Preparing for a Better Tomorrow: iCode’s Response to COVID-19

At iCode, we understand that by investing in our children’s education and development today, we’re investing in a better tomorrow.

Our proprietary curriculum empowers kids to harness the power of creativity and build the skills they need to succeed through computer science. So, when state mandates required our facilities to shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we knew we needed to act quickly to support our franchise owners and the children we teach.

Transitioning to online classes

Our leadership team reacted swiftly to the changing environment related to the pandemic and the temporary suspension of physical business operations. Within two weeks of shutting down our facilities, the iCode team developed, organized and began marketing the introduction of our new online courses and our own online platform. We also established an online committee with select franchisees and have maintained regular updates and conference calls with all of our owners.

In addition, we centralized all instructors at the corporate level so that our franchisees could focus on marketing while we took the responsibility of hiring, training, scheduling and teaching. Our team also shouldered the task of communicating with parents and local principals about our new online programs and enrollment. Connecting with our franchisees and parents

Across the board, both new and existing franchisees voiced how impressed they were with our leadership team, our ability to respond so quickly to changing market conditions and execute with excellence. The positive feedback we’ve received has been overwhelming in regards to our speed to market, program quality, marketing support and instructor logistics.

The parents have been very appreciative of our quick transition to online classes, which has resulted in little necessary refunds and continued profitability for our franchisees. In fact, a recent survey of parents who elected to do our online program revealed that 85% were satisfied or highly satisfied with the program.

Moving forward

During these next few months, depending on the state, we’re prepared to continue supporting our franchisees, students and parents through in-person or online summer camps. An infection control program, consisting of signage, sanitization stations, a sneeze guard at the reception desk and explicit operational procedural guidelines, will be implemented at all iCode locations. The health and safety of our students, instructors, employees and franchisees is paramount.
